Upcoming College & Career Events

The Pat Call & Irene Culmo Center for College & Career Guidance has a number of upcoming events scheduled for our students and families:

College Counselor Connects
Dates: Monday - Friday (This begins Monday, 8/22 and will continue through the entire semester)
Time: 2:10 PM - 3:00 PM
Location: College Corner
Description: Students will have an opportunity to drop in during this time to get help with anything college related and also have all their questions answered.
 
College Representative Visits
Target Audience: 10th, 11th, & 12th Grade
Dates: Thursday, September 1 - Friday, October 21
Time: 9 AM, 10 AM, 11 AM, and 1 PM
Location: Lawrence Bell Center
Description: Students will have an opportunity to meet college representatives visiting Christopher Columbus to to learn about the various institutions and also have their questions answered by an admission counselor.
 
Career Exploration and Time Management & Motivation Workshop
Target Audience: Juniors & Seniors
Dates: Saturday, September 17 & Saturday, September 24 
Time: 8:30 AM - 11:45 AM 
Location: Lecture Hall 
Description: The Center for College & Career Guidance has partnered with a Professional Certified Life Coach to host a coaching workshop that will offer juniors and seniors the opportunity to build a toolbox with skills, practices, and resources which will increase their confidence in being successful in their high school and college experience. Not only will students be provided with time management and motivation strategies but also learn how to prioritize, create a schedule that encourages balance, and how to tackle procrastination. Students will also learn about career exploration, how to identify and align their strengths, skills, and talents with their career interests. Lastly, students will learn how to design goals and create action steps to achieve them. Space is limited. RSVP is required.
 
Financial Aid Night
Target Audience: Seniors + Parents/Guardians
Date: Tuesday, October 4 
Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM 
Location: Lecture Hall + Live Stream 
Description: The Center for College & Career Guidance will be hosting a Financial Aid Night for senior parents/guardians to learn how the financial aid process works. An expert financial aid advisor from the University of Miami financial will cover all types of aid, which will be applicable to all colleges and universities. You'll learn about the application processes for merit awards, outside scholarships and need-based aid. Students are encouraged to attend. Space is limited. RSVP Required.
 
College Fair
Target Audience: All students & families
Date: Tuesday, October 11 
Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM 
Location: Columbus Cafe + Gym  
Description: The Center for College & Career Guidance will be hosting its annual college fair featuring more than 100 colleges and universities from all over the world. The college representatives will have exhibits, informational packets, brochures, and admission applications, as well as information on financial aid, available for distribution and will be available to answer questions throughout the event. 
 
College Application Day
Target Audience: Seniors 
Date: Wednesday, October 12 
Time: 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM 
Location: Columbus Cafe 
Description: The Center for College & Career Guidance will be hosting a College Application Day where College Counselors will be on-hand to assist students with their college applications and answer any questions they may have. 

FAFSA Workshop
Target Audience: Seniors + Parents/Guardians
Date: Wednesday, October 19 
Time: 6:30 PM - 7:45 PM 
Location: Columbus Cafe 
Description: The Center for College & Career Guidance will be hosting a FAFSA Workshop where seniors and their parents/guardians will have an opportunity to complete the FAFSA with the help of financial aid experts who will be on-hand to assist and answer any questions. Families are encouraged to bring their laptops. RSVP is required.
