Christopher Columbus High School employs over 125 educators and staff members in a variety of fields. Our school thrives because our staff is talented, highly skilled and dedicated to providing current and future Explorers with an excellent education.

  • Spanish Teacher

    Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, Florida is looking for an energetic and creative teacher to teach Spanish.  This teacher will be expected to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program for native and non-native speakers of Spanish from beginning to advanced levels.  This candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Marist Brothers.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or Foreign Language Education with concentration in Spanish
    • Florida Department of Education Teaching Certification in Spanish
    • Must be fully committed, supportive, and respectful of the Marist mission and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
    • Must have complete mastery of the written and spoken Spanish language
    • Must have knowledge of the cultures, heritage and rich diversity of the countries that make up the Spanish-speaking world
    • Knowledge and skill in use of instructional technology, including iPads in the classroom
    • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or similar forms is a plus
    • Excellent presentation skills with use of instructional technologies
    • Excellent classroom management and demonstrated ability to engage students
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including clear speaking voice, in both English and Spanish
    • Must have a professional demeanor
     
    REPORTS TO: The Spanish Teacher reports to the Principal through the Department Leader.
     
    EVALUATION:
    The Spanish Teacher will be evaluated periodically through class observation by the Department Leader and Administrators and annually through a formal evaluation with the Principal.  Periodic evaluations will be based on predetermined teaching standards which will be communicated to the teacher on an ongoing basis.  Annual evaluation will be based on the teacher's self-evaluation, the Characteristics of Marist Education, and the responsibilities listed above.
