Gonzalez Family Athletic Facility

The Gonzalez Family Athletic Facility, located in the two-story All-Sports Fitness Complex next to the Bernhardt Student Wellness Center, adds 100,000 square feet of state-of-the-art athletic space to our campus. Situated on the west corner of campus, this incredible facility serves as the centralized hub for all Explorer students and athletes. Alums Tony Gonzalez and Joaquin Gonzalez Jr. played a pivotal role in designing and equipping the center, ensuring it meets the needs of all students and athletes.

Featuring 18 Olympic training racks, the Gonzalez Family Athletic Facility is used by all athletic teams and also serves as a training ground for former Explorers during their collegiate and professional off-seasons. The second floor is home to team locker rooms, coaches’ offices, classrooms, and a spinning room that overlooks the Explorers’ football field. Exercise physiologists are on hand to guide students toward healthy lifestyles while helping them safely achieve their fitness goals.

The Wellness Center, which is part of this expansive facility, hosts physical education and health nutrition classes, promoting cardiovascular exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. The space was designed to offer students not involved in the athletic program their own place to exercise, free from the intimidation of team athletes.
