    The Spearfishing Club completed its first spearfishing tournament of the year. 
  • Coach DQ Courtyard Blessing Ceremony

    On Thursday, September 8, 2022, Christopher Columbus High School held a blessing ceremony for "Coach DQ Courtyard" which was dedicated to Daniel Quesada, a student who passed away of Cystic Fibrosis while attending Columbus during his senior year in 2019. 
  • Debate Returns Home from Dallas Victorious

    The Columbus Debate Society flew out to Dallas for the 34th annual Grapevine Classic this past weekend. Texas is home to the most competitive circuit in the country, and the invitational featured 20 of the top 100 schools in the nation.

  • Lynskey Returns to Columbus in Advancement Role

    We are happy to announce that John Lynskey is officially working for Columbus again!  The Associate Director of Advancement position will allow him to continue his work with the Allman Brothers and travel back and forth between Miami and his home in Georgia.
  • Service Project: The Encuentro Project

    The purpose of the project is to give people a well-rounded view of what is happening with immigration and what is happening here at the border.

    The family of the late Rudy Sanchez was on campus today to honor Anthony Mallafre '22 as the recipient of the Rudy M. Sanchez Memorial Award.
  • 7 Explorers Honored At Silver Knight Ceremony

    We are very proud to announce that Christopher Columbus High School won two Silver Knight Awards and five Honorable Mentions at the 2022 Miami Herald Silver Knight Awards held tonight at the James L. Knight Center.

    Congratulations to Juan Pablo Garcia-Casals and Jan Andretta on being named the Class of 2022's Valedictorian and Salutatorian!
  • Doskow '18 Named GSC Co-Player of the Year

    Valdosta State baseball first baseman EJ Dowkow '18 has the honor of being named the 2022 Gulf South Conference Co-Player of the Year, announced by the league office Thursday.
  • Garcia-Casals '22 Honored by Univision 23

    Senior Juan Pablo Garcia-Casals was honored by Univision 23 last weekend at its annual “Orgullo de Nuestra Juventud” Award Luncheon. 
  • Track & Field Wins Regional Meet

    This past Saturday, the Track & Field team competed in the FHSAA Region 4-4A Championship and won with 202 points (most in program history at a regional championship). 
  • CCNN Wins 14 Suncoast Student Production Awards

    CCNN took home a record 14 Suncoast Student Production Awards from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
  • Track Wins District Title

    The Columbus Track & Field team competed in the District 15-4A Championship last week and won, setting a new record with points scored in program history.
  • Villar Honored at Key Club Convention

    Last weekend, the Christopher Columbus High School Key Club travelled to the Florida District of Key Club Convention in Daytona Beach.
  • Track & Field Wins GMACs

    The Columbus Track and Field team competed at the GMAC Championships at Traz Powell Stadium and took home 1st place over 35+ teams, scoring 191 points.

  • Mu Alpha Theta Wins Barry Math Olympiad

    The Christopher Columbus Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta (The Math Honor Society) Mathletes finished in 1st Place in the Group Competition at the Barry University Math Olympiad. 

  • Guzman Finishes 2nd at Senior Nationals

    Last weekend, a group of Columbus wrestlers traveled to Virginia Beach, VA to wrestle in the NHSCA High School National wrestling Championships. 
  • Drama Scores All Superiors at States

    Last weekend, members of the Drama program competed in the Florida State Thespian competition in Tampa.

  • FBLA State Conference Results

    Last weekend, CCHS FBLA members competed in the 2022 State Leadership Conference - where they went up against FBLA clubs across the state (over 5,000 students participating).

  • Columbus Model UN Wins 1st Team Award at FIU

    This past weekend, Columbus Model UN visited Florida International University for their annual high school model un conference: FIMUN. This is a conference that has been going for 34 straight years!

  • MFP Students Tour Northeast Colleges

    Last week, the Mas Family Program took 39 Explorers on a 5-day tour of universities in the Boston and Providence areas.
  • Track Wins Sam Burley Invitational

    Our Track & Field team competed last weekend at the Sam Burley Invitational at Tropical Park. The Explorers finished in 1st out of 30+ teams. The results below are the individuals who finished top 8 in their event:
  • Wrestling Team Wraps Up Season

    Six wrestlers (Christian Guzman 120 lbs., Jamie Rodriquez 126 lbs., Mike Lynne 132 lbs., Van Huffman 152 lbs., TJ Brown 195 lbs., and Derrick Hart 285 lbs.) all won quality matches in the grueling Class 3A FHSAA State Tournament at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Fl.

  • Columbus Debate Advances 7 to Nationals

    This past weekend, the Columbus Debate Society hosted South Florida's Speech and National Qualifier. Over the course of two days, 150 of the best local talent from 12 different schools vied for only 2 available qualifying spots per event.
  • Explorers Take on International Trade

    A number of Explorer were on hand at PortMiami during the Florida Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association (FCBF) - Trade Summit.  
  • Explorers Win Spartan Track Invitational

    The Track & Field team competed at the Spartan Invitational at Southridge High School last week and placed 1st out of 20+ teams.
  • Mock Trial Competition Results

    Our Inaugural Columbus Mock Trial team competed in their first ever Private/Charter High School Mock Trial Competition and finished in 4th place out of 10 schools.
  • CCNN Live & Columbus Films Win Big

    It was a big night for both, Columbus Films and CCNN Live. 
  • BBall Wins District 15-7A Championship

    A little over 2 weeks ago, the varsity basketball team took home the Greater Miami Athletic Conference championship. On Friday night, the Explorers (24-2) added to their hardware, winning the District 15-7A Championship, beating Miami High 82-61 at Doral Academy's gym.
  • Black History & Leadership: A Lecture Series at Columbus

    CCHS School Board member Mrs. Shirelle Jackson has partnered with the Columbus Administration to host and moderate a professional panel for Black History Month on Wednesday, February 23rd at 10 am in the Lawrence Bell Media Center.
  • Robotics Team Advances to State Championship

    Columbus' rookie Robotics Team (11342C) led by junior Alessandro Fernandez with Lucas Acosta and Eduardo Del Toro, advanced to the State Championship this past weekend at the VEX Robotics Competition at iTech Titan High School in Miami.

    Jose A. Muñoz, President and CEO of BCC Engineering, has announced that he will make a generous donation to establish an innovation hub at his alma mater, Christopher Columbus High School. 
  • Theatrical Production Written by Miguel Maspons '81 to Premiere in March

    On March 3, 2022, Las Lloronas, a hyper‐realistic theatrical show written by Miguel Maspons, a Miami‐born lawyer and third‐generation funeral home owner, will premiere at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center, the new cultural venue built at the entrance of Tropical Park, 7930 SW 40 Street, in Miami.

    The Varsity Basketball Team received media training from one of the best public relations professionals in the business.

    The Society of Professional Journalists - Florida scholarship/grant committee has chosen Christopher Columbus High School's media program to receive a $500 grant!
  • GMAC Wrestling Championship Recap

    The varsity wrestling team competed in the 34 team Greater Miami Athletic Conference Tournament this past weekend at Ronald Reagan High School in Doral and came in third place behind District 16 rivals Southwest and runner up South Dade High School.

  • TARC Team Flight Tested 1st Rocket

    The Columbus Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) team flight tested their first rocket yesterday at the Acosta Braids Nursery Farms in Homestead. Their rocket achieved a maximum altitude of 876 ft.
