Applying to CCHS
Admission to Christopher Columbus High School as a freshman is based on the student's performance on the Columbus Entrance Exam, his most recent grades and standardized test scores. The application process begins in October when the school starts to accept applications for the entrance exam which takes place in December. You can apply for the exam online on the Columbus website. Interested students and their parent(s) should attend Open House which takes place in November. In addition, there is an opportunity for mothers of elementary/middle school children to visit Columbus in groups through the "Discover Columbus Mothers Luncheons".
Students may be able to transfer to Columbus from another high school if capacity allows. Admission as a transfer student is based on the student's performance on the Columbus Entrance Exam and on other factors regarding their performance at their previous high school. Interested transfer students and their parent(s) should contact the Admissions Director, Mr. Marinelli, to tour campus and learn more about the admissions process.
International students may be able to transfer to Columbus if capacity allows. International students must possess required documentation to attend high school in the United States. An appointment must be made with the Admissions Director.
Columbus accepts students on the John M. McKay Scholarship. Acceptance is contingent on their performance in eighth grade, the Columbus Entrance Exam, and possibly an interview process. For more information including eligibility and scholarship ranges, visit www.floridaschoolchoice.org.
