Bernhardt Wellness Center

Healthy Minds Through Healthy Habits

The Bernhardt Wellness Center serves as a facility for the betterment of both the Columbus faculty and the student body.  This state-of-the-art facility offers 30 pieces of cardiovascular equipment and 30 pieces resistance training machines in addition to free weights.  Columbus models itself as a college preparatory school and as such we provide a facility for the general student body.  Prior to the Bernhardt Wellness Center, students who weren't involved in Columbus athletics needed to pay for a commercial gym.

The wellness center is utilized before, during and after school.  During the school day, team sports and fitness classes use the facility in order to instruct students on proper exercise form.  The facility has "open gym" hours both before and after school.  Students can participate in supervised exercise during the hours of 6:30- 7:45 AM and from dismissal until 5 PM. It is a place where students can socialize and improve their health without ever leaving the campus.

Some of the features:

  • The newest/cutting edge equipment
  • Resistance training area has 30 machines
  • Free-weight area includes a squat rack, flat bench, and incline bench
  • Sets of universal dumbbells and barbells (ranging from 10-60 pounds)
  • 30 pieces of cardio equipment including 10 treadmills, 8 upright bikes, 6 arc trainers, and 2 recumbent bikes.  Each has an iPod/iPhone jack and a headphone plug where one can listen to music while devices charge or tune into one of the 3 TV sets that are directly in front of the cardio area.
  • 2 stairmasters, 2 lateral trainers, and 2 water rowers.
