Writing Lab

The Columbus Writing Lab provides students with additional support at every stage of the writing process. Students may walk in for assistance, schedule an appointment for a future date, or visit the lab following a teacher referral. 

After each visit, students receive a stamped form summarizing what they worked on to share with their teachers or parents. Students who schedule a future session will also receive an appointment slip.

Students can receive support with:

• Written homework assignments
• Expository, informative, reflective, and argumentative essays
• Research papers
• College essays
• Timed writing for SAT and ACT preparation
• MLA and APA formatting
• Organization and outlining
• Sentence structure and transitions
• Word choice and grammar
• Thesis statements, body paragraphs, and conclusions
• Finding and navigating reliable research sources

Student-Led Support

The Writing Lab is led by members of the National English Honor Society. NEHS students work one-on-one with their peers during lab hours to provide guidance, feedback, and practical writing support.
