Wrestling Team Finishes 2nd in District Tournament

The Varsity wrestlers competed in the FHSAA District Tournament this past weekend at Southwest Miami Senior High School and finished in 3rd place behind South Dade and host Southwest.

During this long, hard fought tournament we were able to qualify 10 of our grapplers our of the 14 weight classes to advance to the FHSAA Regional Tournament to be held at nearby Coral Park High School this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
 
Two Explorers won individual titles - Chip Guzman (106 lbs.) and Derrick Hart (285 lbs.). Dylan Mira (145 lbs.) and fellow senior Gian Rodriguez  (220 lbs.) battled to finish in 2nd place while teammates Aiden Gaspar (126 lbs.), Gavin Buck (132 lbs.), Guy Toussaint (170 lbs.) and Joshua Márquez (182 lbs.) fought hard and gained valuable points in 3rd place for the team. Rocco D’Ascoli  (160 lbs.) finished 4th whiles Dan Van Arman (195 lbs.) placed 5th to also advance.
