Sports Program Named Among Best in State, Country
Christopher Columbus High School’s sports program has made the Top 15 in the 2020 Best High School Sports Programs in the Country by Niche.com.
The organization used data from the U.S. Department of Education and extensive parent-student surveys to analyze athletics over the last year at the more than 1,000 high schools in the country, the website said.
Among the factors considered were the number of sports offered, participation rates and championships, it added.
While many sports at Columbus have achieved their share of success, the football team’s state championship in December helped propel the overall program.
“We’re honored by this tremendous recognition,” Athletic Director Chris McKeon said. “We’ve enjoyed a long tradition of athletic excellence made possible with the unwavering support of our great Explorer Nation.”
The sports program was also named No. 2 in the state.
