Explorers Finish 4th At State Wrestling Tournament

The varsity wrestling team returned from the FHSAA State Wrestling Championship, held this past weekend at the Silver Spurs Arena in Orlando, FL with a fourth-place team finish and five state placers.

Finishing second in his weight class at 195 Ibs. was senior Carmine D'ascoli. Fellow senior Charles Huffman (competing in his fourth state tournament) placed third at 120 lbs., as did senior Justin Valdez wrestling at 126 Ibs.
 
Sophomore Robert Dusendang (113 Ibs.) placed fourth while senior Ryan Gonzalez (152 Ibs.) came in 6th place for the second consecutive year.
 
Other state qualifiers who scored points in the hard fought, two-day battle but didn't reach the medal rounds were sophomore Dylan Mira (132 lbs.), senior David Milton (145 lbs.) and senior Brent Becerra (170 lbs.).
