August 2019 Newsletter

From the Office of Principal David Pugh

I am so happy to welcome you back to our amazing Marist learning community. The first two weeks have been invigorating! The level of excitement has been contagious, and I thank you for your positive energy, your commitment to our mission, and for your support of Christopher Columbus High School.

We start the year with high expectations in the hope of yet another productive school year. Our skilled and devoted faculty and staff are prepared to educate, mentor, and guide your son through these most formative years. We enthusiastically accept the challenges ahead and look forward to providing a caring environment while nurturing responsible young men and promoting critical thinking and high-level learning.
HURRICANE DORIAN
Christopher Columbus High School is closely monitoring Hurricane Dorian’s track and will remain in close communication with its school community as well as Miami-Dade’s Office of Emergency Management and other local officials. We will follow the lead of Miami-Dade County Public Schools with regard to the closing and re-opening of campus due to weather emergencies.

Based on the latest track from the National Weather Service, there will be no impact to our regular school day or afterschool activities today, August 30th. Campus will be secured after 2:40 pm and closed until further notice. As a reminder, Columbus is closed on Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day.

We will be sharing information via email, school-wide text messages, social media, media outlets, and posting all updates on our website. For the most up-to-date information, follow us on Twitter @ColumbusHS_Mia, on Instagram @columbushs_miami, and on Facebook at /ColumbusHS.  Our school web page dedicated to school information and updates regarding Hurricane Dorian is HURRICANE  DORIAN INFORMATION  .
