Summer Camps & Enrichment Programs

Summer @ CCHS camps offer fun, inclusive and interactive hands-on opportunities for young people interested in science, drama, broadcast journalism, sports, adventure and more! Under the guidance of our experienced camp directors - all of whom are Columbus faculty and staff - teaching and learning, exploration and reflection take place both indoors and outdoors.
 
Sessions are available from June through August.

2022 Summer Camps

  • CCNN Live Summer Institute

    Dates: June 13th - 17th; June 20th - 24th; 8 am - 12 noon
    Cost: $350 for both weeks
    Camp Description: As the longest-running high school journalism summer program in Miami-Dade County, CCNN Live’s Summer Institute, boys and girls from grades 6-9 learn journalism and video production skills from experts and students alike. For the first time, students will meet in CCNN Live’s brand new studio to learn to write fair and balanced stories, create compelling video, edit and make graphics for their pieces. Principles of journalism will be discussed and several in-field experts will visit to give students their personal perspectives on the media.

    Guest speakers include WSVN anchor Craig Stevens and WTVJ Sports Producer Giselle Espinales. They will speak to students about their successful careers in journalism and offer advice. The program will culminate with a competition in which students will show off their recently learned skills.  Instructors will choose the best stories, and distribute award certificates.

  • Debate Camp

    Participants: Co-ed students going into their 6th, 7th, or 8th grade year
    Where: Columbus Campus (Room B11)
    When: July 11, 2022 through July 22, 2022; Monday through Friday 12:30pm - 4:30pm
    Cost: $350 per week ($300 if also doing either Model UN or Drama Camp in the morning)

    The Christopher Columbus High School Nationally ranked debate society offers middle school students a unique opportunity to learn the basics of debate from current students, alumni, and coaches. This experience is not only informative for students who wish to pursue debate, but it is also a great skill to learn for any student - plus, it is a fun challenge! Throughout the camp, students will hone their skills in persuasion, argumentation, and critical thinking skills through games, challenges, and debates!
  • Drama Camp

    Participants: Co-ed students going into their 6th, 7th, or 8th grade year
    Where: Columbus Campus (Media Center)
    When: July 11, 2022 through July 22, 2022; Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 12:00pm
    Cost: $350 per week ($300 if also doing Debate Camp in the afternoon)

    Camp Description: The Christopher Columbus High School award-winning theater program offers middle school students a unique opportunity to learn the basics of theater from current students, alumni, and theater coaches. This experience is not only informative for students who wish to pursue theater, but it is also enjoyable for students who wish to try something fun and seek to gain self-confidence while making new friendships in the process.

  • Model UN

    Participants: Co-ed students going into their 6th, 7th, or 8th grade year
    Where: Columbus Campus (Room A22)
    When: July 11, 2022 through July 22, 2022; Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 12:00pm
    Cost: $350 per week ($300 if also doing Debate Camp in the afternoon)

  • Robotics Camp

    Dates: 
    June 6th - 10th, 2022, 8 am - 12 pm
    June 13th - 17th, 2022, 8 am - 12 pm
    Costs: $325 per week, lunch will not be provided

    Middle school boys and girls will:
    • Explore robotics technologies through hands-on and simulation activities.
    • Learn about engineering and develop problem-solving skills,
    • Learn to program a robot to complete tasks, navigate obstacles and surroundings.
    • Build and test a programmable robot they can take home at the end of the camp.
  • Summer Film Camp

    Dates: June 20th - June 24th
                June 27th - July 1st
    Costs: $300 for both weeks
    Camp Description: Middle school boys and girls are welcome to learn  about the wonderful world of filmmaking!

  • Coach Bo’s Instructional Baseball Camp

    Dates: June 13th - July 22nd
    Time: Daily 5 - 7 pm
    Cost: $175 per week or $900 for 6 weeks
    Description: Baseball camp offers opportunities for youth players to improve their skills and become better players. This camp allows young baseball players to learn under the tutelage of Columbus coaches and former players.

  • Columbus Summer Soccer Camp

    Weeks Available:
    Week 1 (June 13-17)

    7:30 am -  3:00 pm 

    Cost (add also if combined with a second camp):

    Camp Description: 
    Join us in a half day camp where we continue to have fun and learn about the beautiful game of soccer! The camp staff has plenty of fun soccer and educational activities for all the campers! This will be taking place at Christopher Columbus High School, morning drop off will start at 7 am and pick up will be at 3 pm. Each camper should bring their own soccer ball (if not we will supply one), water bottle, cleats, sneakers, and their own lunch and snack (lunch options are available along with a concession stand.

  • Miami Hoop School

    Join Christopher Columbus High School head coach Andrew Moran and the Miami Hoop School team for a summer of improvement!

    Weeks: June 13-17, June 20-24, June 27-July 1, July 11-15, July 18-22, July 25-29 and August 1-5

    Ages: 5-18
    Times: 9 am - 3 pm
    $250 weekly

  • Tier 1 Elite Soccer Training

    Camp Blurb/Description: 
    High intensity training offered by experienced coaches all summer long. These training sessions are open to any current or incoming high school student boys and girls. Each training session is meant to prepare you for the upcoming soccer season. We will start from 8:00-9:00 p.m. in the gym following a specific training regimen followed by an hour training session on the field 9:00-10:00 p.m. This will only be 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)

  • Football

    All Incoming freshmen football players must have a current physical to participate in fall sports. Once completed, physicals are to be submitted to Brother Herb Baker in the training room facility.

    HUDL contact system: 
    All freshmen football players must be registered in our HUDL contact system for updates on practice dates, times, and messages. More info on setting up your HUDL account will be given at workouts in June. Information needed includes: freshmen football players full name, cell phone number, cell phone carrier, email address, and position.
