Camps & Enrichment Programs

Christopher Columbus High School offers a wide array of summer programs for students ranging in age from third grade through current Explorers. From athletics to academics and the arts, the Explorers Summer experience is a wonderful way to introduce your children to the finest all-boy Catholic high school in Miami-Dade County.

2021 Summer Camps & Clinics

  • CCNN Films Camp

    Dates: June 14th - June 18th
                June 21st - June 25th
    Costs: $350 for two weeks

    Middle School boys and girls will learn about the incredible world of filmmaking. Camp will include classes in screenwriting, filming, directing, and editing. 

    Guest Speakers include Jessie Melero, Prop Maker and Eric Gaunaurd, Producer for Nickelodeon and Disney Plus. The program will conclude with a showcase of all the student films made during camp.
  • Coach Bo’s Instructional Baseball Camp

    Dates/Times: 6 weeks (June 7- July 16) from 5 pm - 7 pm
    Costs: $175/ week or $900/ 6 weeks

    Camp will be held at beautiful Columbus ballpark for ages 10-13.  Next registration is Saturday, June 5th.  Any further questions please contact Coach Bowman at 786-229-2684 or basestealersinc@gmail.com.
  • Debate Camp

    Dates/Times: June 28, 2021 through July 9, 2021; Monday through Friday 12:30pm - 4:30pm
    Cost: $350 ($300 if also doing the Drama Camp in the morning)

    The Christopher Columbus High School Nationally ranked debate society offers middle school students a unique opportunity to learn the basics of debate from current students, alumni, and coaches. This experience is not only informative for students who wish to pursue debate, but it is also a great skill to learn for any student - plus, it is a fun challenge! Throughout the camp, students will hone their skills in persuasion, argumentation, and critical thinking skills through games, challenges, and debates!
  • Robotics Camp

    Dates: June 14th -18th, 2021, 8 am – 12 pm
    Costs: $325, lunch will not be provided

    Middle school boys and girls will:
    • Explore robotics technologies through hands-on and simulation activities.
    • Learn about engineering and develop problem-solving skills,
    • Learn to program a robot to complete tasks, navigate obstacles and surroundings.
    • Build and test a programmable robot they can take home at the end of the camp.
  • CCNN Live Summer Institute

    Dates: June 14-18; June 21-25; 8am-12pm
    Costs: $350 for both weeks/$300 for both weeks IF combined w CCNN Films Camp

    At the longest-running high school journalism summer program in Miami-Dade County, CCNN Live’s Summer Institute, boys and girls from grades 6-9 learn journalism and video production skills from experts and students alike. Students will learn to write a fair and balanced story, shoot video, edit and create graphics for their pieces.  Principles of journalism will be discussed and several in-field experts will visit to give students their personal perspectives on the media.  Guest speakers include The Sun Sentinel’s Arlene Borenstein and CBS 4's Lauren Pastrana. They will speak to students about their successful careers in journalism and offer advice. The program will culminate with a competition in which students will show off their recently learned skills.  Instructors will choose the best stories, and distribute award certificates.

  • Theater Camp

    Dates: June 28, 2021 through July 9, 2021; Monday through Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm
    Costs: $350 for the two weeks ($300 for the two weeks if also doing the Debate Camp in the afternoon)

    The Christopher Columbus High School award-winning theater program offers middle school students a unique opportunity to learn the basics of theater from current students, alumni, and theater coaches. This experience is not only informative for students who wish to pursue theater, but it is also enjoyable for students who wish to try something fun and seek to gain self-confidence while making new friendships in the process.
  • Web Ball Summer Baseball Camp

    Ages 13-18 (15 teams total)
    14U - 18U
    Cost: $1500
    Dates: May 24 - July 23, 2021
     
    Information: Web Ball covers all facets of the game including hitting, fielding, pitching, base running and team play. Players will be coached by various members of the Christopher Columbus Baseball Staff, including Head Coach Joe Weber.

  • Baseball

    Web Ball 4-Week Instructional Camp covers all facets of the game including hitting, fielding, pitching, base running and team play. Campers (age 11-13) will be coached by various members of the Christopher Columbus Baseball Staff. Cost is $550 and starts the week of June 17th.   • Bowling

    Students interested in bowling this fall should e-mail Coach Adam Scholer at ascholer@columbushs.com. 
  • Cross Country Camp/Training

    Students interested in running Cross Country this summer should e-mail Coach Eric Pino at epino@columbushs.com or register for the Press On Running Camp.

    Monday, June 7-Mandatory Varsity Summer Workouts begin (Monday-Friday)
    Friday, July 2 - Monday, July 5- Days off; Independence Day Observed
    Tuesday, July 6- Summer Workouts resume
    Thursday, July 29 and Friday, July 30- Days off before Fall football camp begins
    Monday, August 2- Fall football camp Day# 1

    *All Incoming freshmen football players must have a current physical to participate in fall sports. Once completed, physicals are to be submitted to Brother Herb Baker in the training room facility
  • Golf

  • Wrestling

    Explorer Wrestling Club will work out on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 pm starting June 11th. Cost is $100 for the summer session. We highly encourage any 8th graders interested in wrestling to come and get a head start on practice with the club and not wait till school starts. Contact Coach Jim Husk at jhusk@columbushs.com or Coach Jacob Grant at jgrant@columbushs.com with any questions.
