Grad Bash & Prom 2019

Rite-of-Passage Celebration for Seniors

On behalf of the Student Activities Committee, congratulations on having a SENIOR at Christopher Columbus High School! We’re only half way through their last high school year and already we have begun preparations for all the wonderful and highly anticipated senior year celebratory traditions that take place prior to graduation.

Grad Bash is Friday, April 5th. This experience is our senior class trip to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure on a night open only to high school seniors. The cost of this trip is $225 and it includes transportation, ticket for both theme parks, and one meal at either theme park. Permission forms and payment must be in by Friday, February 22nd. Payments may be made by check payable to CCHS or cash. All students attending Grad Bash must bring in a signed form and all financial matters* must be up to date in order to receive approval to attend. Forms are only available in the SAC office (forms are color coded and double sided to facilitate registration).

Prom is on Friday, May 10th. The cost of prom is $200 per couple. Forms and payment will be due on Wednesday, April 10th. The permission form and more information will be available to seniors on March 25th.

*In accordance with the 2018-2019 School Year Tuition Plan and section 5.21 of the Student Handbook all financial obligations must be up to date in order to get approval from the finance committee to participate in these events.

Dress Code & Event Rules

Universal Orlando has very strict guidelines that every student must follow, including their dress code. If the student does not follow the rules, he will not be allowed into the park. Please have your son observe the following rules set by Universal Orlando and Christopher Columbus High School:
  • Slacks or jeans, collared dress shirts, or polo’s (any shirt with a collar)
  • Plain jackets
  • Dress shoes or sneakers with socks
Not Allowed:
  • Ripped jeans
  • T-shirts (no collar)
  • T-shirts, sweaters, or jackets with Columbus High School logo or any HS logo. (Universal Studios does not allow students to wear anything that identifies their high school or group)
  • Purposely dressing alike (no custom-made t-shirts for the group)
  • Heely’s (sneakers with wheels)
  • Back packs
The educational purpose of this trip is to demonstrate how to celebrate appropriately. WE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY DRINKING, DRUGS, OR POOR BEHAVIOR. Any student who violates any of these rules could face immediate expulsion or have this school year extended. Please advise your son that Grad Bash is a privilege that is afforded to seniors and how foolish it would be to jeopardize his graduation because of one thoughtless act. Your son must be on time and in school for the entire day on April 5th. Failure to do so will prohibit him from attending Grad Bash.

Lapel Project

We know how costly senior prom can be and so we have partnered with The Lapel Project, a product launched on Shark Tank by alumnus Sebastian Garcia ’00. Below you will also find a product catalog so that your senior may order his lapel or other accessories. Explorers can order a custom lapel between now and April 10th and they will arrive in time for Prom 2019. Lapels can be ordered on or in person at SARTORI AMICI at The Falls Mall. Be sure to use code CCHS19 for special discounts and pricing. The most exciting part is that The Lapel Project will give a donation to Columbus with every lapel purchase.
