Standardized College Entrance Exam Preparation

In order to monitor individual and school-wide progress on the high-stakes standardized college entrance examination, the Guidance Department administers and monitors a series of testing tools. In preparation for the SAT, Columbus currently requires all students to take the PSAT 8/9 in freshman year and the PSAT/NMSQT in both sophomore and junior years. For the ACT, students take the Pre ACT in freshman and sophomore years, while all juniors take the ACT during school on a special exam day.  All test results and their interpretations are made available to students, teachers, and parents through individualized and group presentations. Columbus also offers various opportunities for test preparation throughout the school year, including Prepworks’ curriculum-embedded Electronic Learning System (E-LS) and on-campus prep classes.
Columbus students have the opportunity to meet with the Admission Directors and Counselors from over 150 colleges and universities that visit our school throughout the year for our college fairs and for individualized meetings. In addition, many students take advantage for our College Campus Tours which include the Ivy League Schools, the mid-Atlantic Schools, the Florida and California state schools.
