Gov. Signs HB 1 Bill Into Law at CCHS

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was ON CAMPUS this morning and signed House Bill 1 (HB 1) into law.

HB 1 promises to expand school choice to every Florida student by eliminating the current financial eligibility restrictions and allowing eligible students to enroll in K-12 to participate in school choice scholarships.

The administration of Columbus supports Florida’s school choice programs. Currently, 28% of our student body receives a scholarship through the state-funded Step Up For Students and McKay Programs. We have accepted these scholarships for over 20 years. We agreed to Governor Ron DeSantis signing the bill on campus because we value the opportunity that school choice scholarship programs provide to students.
