Columbus Model UN Wins Best Small Delegation
This past weekend Columbus Model UN visited the University of Florida for their annual high school model UN conference: GatorMUN.
When we started out last year, this was our first competitive conference. We were still learning and we left last year with a feeling that we could do better.
A year later the improvement was demonstrable and we collected the following individual awards:
James Sacher and Joseph Alonso: Outstanding Delegates (2nd place)
Along with fellow Explorers: Martin Seals, Sebastian Santana and Ben Coral, the team was able to collect enough points to achieve our first conference victory: Best Small Delegation (1st place for teams of 10 or less).
In the first year of this program, the team has collected a grand total of 19 individual awards across five conferences, and 2 team awards across the 3 conferences which track team scores. We hope to add to this tally in March when we head to FIU.
Brotherhood, Faith, and Scholarship define the Marist Brothers Catholic education at Christopher Columbus High School. By making Jesus Christ known and loved and creating an inspiring academic and extracurricular environment, we prepare young men for higher learning and a life-long commitment to leadership and service through Gospel and Marist values.
Columbus is fully accredited by Cognia and is a member of the Marist Association of Secondary schools, the National Catholic Education Association and the Independent Schools of South Florida.
