Lynskey Returns to Columbus in Advancement Role

We are happy to announce that John Lynskey is officially working for Columbus again!  The Associate Director of Advancement position will allow him to continue his work with the Allman Brothers and travel back and forth between Miami and his home in Georgia.

Although John left his position as Dean of Students last year to head the Allman Brothers Museum and Foundation in Macon, GA, he remained close to the school and continued to lend us his valuable support.  Starting in the 2022/23 school year, John will take on a more active and formal role, assisting President Kruczek in the areas of donor and alumni relations.  And we can all rest assured that he will continue to bring us more of his popular ‘Looking Back with Lynskey’ podcasts and ‘Life Lessons with John Lynskey’ videos.

“John has an undying love for Columbus and over the years has fostered strong relationships with alumni of all ages,” said President Thomas Kruczek.  “We are blessed to have him.  He is an incredible asset to Christopher Columbus High School.”

“This opportunity is like getting to the end of a book and turning the last page, only to discover there is a whole new chapter awaiting you,” Lynskey said. “I could not be happier, and I’m truly looking forward to what we can achieve. Adelante, and let’s go!”

About John Lynskey

After graduating from Fort Lewis, he went on to earn his Master’s Degree in American History from Villanova University. In 1984, he began his 30-year career teaching at Columbus; John created two of the most popular elective courses ever in the school’s curriculum - U.S. Foreign Policy and The History of World War II which became “rites of passage” for seniors.  In addition to teaching, John coached the Varsity Football linebackers for 18 years, was an Assistant Track Coach for a dozen seasons, and was an integral part of the Campus Ministry Program.  From 2014 to 2021 he served on the school’s administration as Dean of Students.  John is the co-author of 50 Years Exploring: Christopher Columbus High School 1958 – 2008 and is one of the few Explorers who has been inducted into both the school’s Hall of Fame and Athletic Hall of Fame. For the past year, he has served the Allman Brothers Band Museum and Foundation as director.
