Wrestling Team Wraps Up Season

Six wrestlers (Christian Guzman 120 lbs., Jamie Rodriquez 126 lbs., Mike Lynne 132 lbs., Van Huffman 152 lbs., TJ Brown 195 lbs., and Derrick Hart 285 lbs.) all won quality matches in the grueling Class 3A FHSAA State Tournament at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Fl.

Unfortunately in the end, only two Explorers returned with individual medals – 3-time state qualifier and defending State Champion Christian Guzman (Sr., 120 lbs.) competed courageously throughout but was upset twice and had to settle for a 5th place on the medal stand. Teammate Derrick Hart (Jr., 285 lbs.) fought hard for a 6th finish.

The Wrestlers finished a long season winning 25 Dual Meets while only taking 5 losses. The team also finished in the Top 3 throughout the season in 7 tournaments, including the GMAC Tournament, Districts and Regionals.
