Columbus Debate Advances 7 to Nationals

This past weekend, the Columbus Debate Society hosted South Florida's Speech and National Qualifier. Over the course of two days, 150 of the best local talent from 12 different schools vied for only 2 available qualifying spots per event.

Congratulations to Sebastian Santana and Victor Barreda who will be flying out to Louisville, Kentucky June 12-17 to compete for a national title in their respective speech and debate events.

They will be joined by our World Schools team of Bruno Barreiro, Mathew Calviño, Nicholas Diaz, Phillip Castro, and Marcelo Andreu who had already qualified.

The following students also placed as alternates, which means if the winners from other schools are not willing or able to participate, the following Explorers will be joining Sebastian, Victor, and the WS team:

Jorge Cereceda: 2nd Alternate
Matthew Moreno: 3rd Alternate
Sven Stumbauer: 3rd Alternate
Justin Marimon: 3rd Alternate
Lucas Salazar: 4th Alternate

Special thanks to Dan Ciocca, Fernando Machado, and his wife Judith, for their immense help during the tournament.
