TARC Team Flight Tested 1st Rocket

The Columbus Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) team flight tested their first rocket yesterday at the Acosta Braids Nursery Farms in Homestead. Their rocket achieved a maximum altitude of 876 ft.

The team will now move on to build and test fly a larger, more powerful rocket to carry two large (raw) eggs and return them safely to the ground. The top 100 performing teams will compete at the National Finals near Washington DC in May 2022.

The TARC team is part of the newly formed SEDS Club at Columbus. The Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) is a university student-led nonprofit organization with 85 chapters across the country. SEDS has recently started admitting select high school chapters.

This makes the Columbus SEDS chapter the fifth high school student-led chapter in the US and the only one at the high school level in the state of Florida.

Please congratulate Andres Cruz, Erick Gonzalez, Alain  Gonzalez, Jorge Garcia, Benjamin Araya, Mario  Villaverde, Mitchel Corteguera and Justin Hunter.
