Golf Team finishes at 2nd at LRHS Invitational

The Columbus varsity golf team played in the Lakewood Ranch Invitational this past Saturday up in Bradenton against some of the top ranked teams from the west side of the state.

After never playing the course and a 30 minute rain delay, the Explorers shot a combined 287 for (-1) as a team. The team wound up tied with host Lakewood Ranch High School, finishing in a dramatic team playoff where all five golfers went back out to the course for sudden death extra golf.

It was quite the atmosphere for high school golf with a huge gallery of Lakewood supporters, but unfortunately the Explorers came up short by one stroke. Andres Atrio birdied the playoff hole and everyone else made par. Unfortunately Lakewood's top two players both made birdie.

Overall, a tremendous golf round from the team.

Justo "Andres" Atrio  (-3) 69, Hans Risvaer (-1) 71, Sebastian Kawas (+1) 73, Christian Figueredo (+2) 74 and freshman Victor Herrera with a (+2) 74!
