Debate Gives Valiant Effort

This past weekend, the Debate Society attended 2 of the most competitive fields is has faced all year.

The Woodward Academy debate featured countless Nationals and Tournament of Champions contenders. Though we finished with a combined record of 3-9, it was a valuable learning experience. Nick Gonzalez (2-4) and Alan Munschy (1-5) responded confidently despite the tough results.

Additionally we attended a Harvard Tournament for the 2nd time this year. This tournament was exclusively for World Schools Debate, not only was this the largest, most competitive World Schools competition we have faced this year, it is likely the toughest in the history our participation in this debate event. It was a truly global test.

The event featured 188 teams:
88 from Canada, 48 from US, 19 from China, 10 from Mexico, 4 from Zimbabwe, 3 from Mongolia, 2 from great Britain, 2 from Denmark, 2 from Singapore, 2 from Sri Lanka, 2 from Kazakhstan, 1 Croatian, 1 Colombian, 1 Indian, 1 Pakistani, 1 Nepalese, & 1 Ukrainian team.

Our world schools kids finished with a combined record of 2-4, and 1-5 respectively but displayed toughness and willingness to learn and grow imperative to the development of our wonderful program. Please take your time to congratulate the following debaters for their toughness in the face of losses should you see them today.
