Hellions Finish 2nd at FLRunners

The Columbus Cross Country Team placed 2nd at the FLRunners Invitational this past weekend in Lakeland. This ties the team's best finish at the esteemed race!

The Hellions A Team competed in the Race of Champions against a select group of teams from all over the state and placed 2nd. The team placed 6 of its 10 runners in the top 30 in a race that had over 150 competitors. With a team average of 16:45 and only 28 seconds between our No. 1 and No. 5 runner, the boys seemed to get stronger went progressed. 
 
Christian Ivonnete (8th place) and Alvaro Canarte (12th place) led the way and were again followed closely behind by emerging start Nick IvonneteAdrian Bichara (who just getting back in shape), and Donato Scarcello
 
The team defeated all other 4A teams by over 80 points.
 
The JV team ran in a race designated for Varsity teams and placed 3rd (missing 2nd by 1 point). The group was led by Freshman Alejandro Romagosa (who makes the Varsity squad with this 18:04 performance), Branden RuizAnthony Zacarias, and Nico Trujillo.
 
The top 8 boys will compete in FSU next week on the state course, in the most competitive race of the year.
