Cross Country Season Kickoff

As we start returning to some normalcy on campus, so too does the Cross Country out on the course.  The team competed this past Saturday in Naples to officially kick off their season and ran exceptionally well in their debut.

In the Varsity race, Chris Ivonnet was the individual champion and was followed closely by 3 other teammates (Donato Scarcello, Nick Ivonnet, and Alvaro Canarte) who all finished within 7 seconds of each other.

The Varsity took 7 of the top 11 spots in the race to dominate their competition.

The JV team was even more dominant.  Columbus runners accounted for the first 19 runners to cross the finish line.  Clearly out classing the rest of the competition. The individual winner was sophmore Gio Armas, followed closely behind by freshman Danny A. Garcia.

The next 2 weeks of the season will prove much more difficult as the team will compete against the top competition in the state throughout all classifications.

The Hellions are a topped ranked team in their classification but have 2 or 3 other teams from the North that will contend with them for the championship in November if all goes to plan.
