Two Explorers Named National Merit Semifinalists

Two Christopher Columbus High School seniors are among 16,000 Semifinalists in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program announced today, September 9, 2020 by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

Christopher de la Viesca and Luis Victores are the two CCHS students named as Semifinalists.

These academically talented Explorers have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered Spring 2021. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, these two Explorers must submit a detailed scholarship application, in which they provide their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received.

We’d also like to congratulate all the Commended Students and those who were recognized by the College Board in the National African-American and Hispanic Recognition Programs.
