Beach Clean Up & Kids Fishing Clinic

The Anglers Club and Spearfishing Club completed its first ever beach cleanup and kids fishing clinic.

The volunteers spent hours cleaning portions of the Old Rickenbacker Bridge and Hobie Beach. The result ended with a total of 72 gallons of trash collected and removed from the shoreline preventing it from entering the ocean.

After the beach clean up, the club hosted a Kids Fishing Clinic and the children participating received a free rod and reel combo from the FWC and FishFlorida. This gave the kids the opportunity to fish with their big brother(s), dad, and friends along the bridge and shoreline after the beach cleanup.

In conjunction with the classroom recycling project, these two new projects were instilled to get the boys engaged in efforts to protect and enjoy the environment. Also, it brings awareness to be more conscious of the items that we buy and how we should discard it.
