Columbus Has Its 1st Morehead-Cain Scholar

Daniel Gonzalez is the first student in Columbus history to receive the Morehead-Cain Scholarship.

The senior is a Mas Scholar and National Merit Finalist, a varsity member of our district and GMAC championship soccer team, and is currently our Silver Knight nominee in Athletics. Daniel is the co-founder of Player to Player, a non-for-profit organization that has dozens of local partnerships and has collected and shipped countless sporting equipment to three continents.

The Morehead-Cain is the oldest and most prestigious merit scholarship program in the United States and was inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford University. It was founded at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (our country's first public university).

The scholarship covers four years’ tuition, room and board, annual stipends, travel costs, endless networking and research opportunities, and four fully funded summer experiences which include themed experiences all over the world.
