Robotics Club Wins Bid to States

This past Saturday the Columbus Robotics Club opened up the season at Ransom Everglades High School.

It was an exciting and thrilling season opener that attracted 50 teams from schools all over south Florida.

The competition challenged teams to build robots that would shoot flags, stack disk, and reach platforms. There was also an autonomous component which awards points to the robot who scores the most points based on pre-written code.

After an intense day, your Explorers claimed the number one spot out of 50 teams after going 6 - 0 in the qualifying rounds. With the first overall pick going into the win or go home playoff system we joined forces with Archbishop McCarthy high school.

As an alliance, we fought some tough battles but ultimately persevered to the finals to win 21 - 11!

With the win, the Robotics Clubs has been invited to participate in the state's competition. Columbus was awarded the following awards: Tournament Champions and the Amaze Award, which goes to the team ‘with an amazing, well rounded and top performing robot’.
