Columbus Band Sweeps National Competition

The Columbus Jazz Band traveled west to San Francisco to compete in the World Strides Heritage Festival.

The Explorers played quite well, winning every category. The group received a plaque for a gold ranking, which is the highest ranking a school can receive, and the group was also named the ‘Best Overall Band’.

The band also received an adjudicator’s trophy for the highest score out of all the group participating.

Individually, Danny Collazo and Greg Joa received 2 of the 7 most outstanding soloist awards. Danny picked up the ‘Maestro Award’ for best bass solo performance and Greg Joa for best trumpet solo performance.
