Lend a Helping Hand

We are pleased to share with you information about Catholic Relief Services’ Helping Hands, an event that we will host on Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the Christopher Columbus High School Cafe

We have partnered on this food-packing event with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the international aid and development agency of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops that will – with your help – provide food for immediate hunger relief and fund income-generating projects to prevent hunger in the long term in Burkina Faso in Africa.  This family event is fun, educational and inspirational.  Young and not-so-young come together for a morning to pack nutritious meals for people who are suffering from food shortages.  This event is a tangible way for you and your family to live out the Eucharistic call to serve our hungry brothers and sisters around the world.

Our students and some alumni have participated in earlier Helping Hands events in Miami, but this is the first time that we are hosting it at CCHS.  I invite you to join me and your brother alumni in making this a success.  How can you help?  First, put the date on your calendar and reserve the morning for your family to spend it with us. Secondly, please find time to give a meal to someone in need. To donate toward the meals that we will be packing, click here.  Each meal costs .50 cents. This year CRS is trying to pack an unprecedented 75,000 meals in honor of the 75th anniversary of CRS.

If you are interested in volunteering for the March 24, 2018 event, please email Barbara Branas at bbranas@columbushs.com.
