CCHS x BLUE Mission 2018

BLUE Missions will once again be facilitating service trips open exclusively to Columbus High School students during the summer.

This time around, CCHS students have the option of traveling to either the Dominican Republic or Nicaragua to serve. Applications for Summer 2018 trips will be released on November 1st. Spots are expected to fill up quickly, however, potential volunteers can place themselves on a Priority List to receive the application early.

Last summer, 548 volunteers traded bathing suits for boots to travel to rural villages in the Dominican Republic with BLUE Missions and work on the construction of 24 water and sanitation projects benefitting over 1,000 families.

Volunteers traveling on service trips with BLUE Missions live and work alongside locals on the construction of either an aqueduct to connect homes with clean water, or on latrines to provide bathrooms that are safe, private, and sanitary.

“I signed up for a BLUE Missions service trip hoping to fulfill my community service hours requirements. Never did I expect these 9 days spent in the Dominican Republic to change my life so profoundly,” confessed 16 year old, Jose Moreno, who volunteered on a sanitation project this summer.

The nonprofit founded by Columbus alum, Daniel Rodriguez, facilitated the first service trip exclusively for Columbus students in 2014, and has taken over 100 CCHS students to serve abroad every summer since then.
