Explorers Finish Second at State Meet

The Columbus Track & Field team capped its 2017 season at the FHSAA Class 4A State Championship hosted by IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. 

The Explorers had two days of great competition and were able to bring back the Class 4A State Runner-Up trophy. Individually, two Explorers relay teams won titles – the 4x100m team of Trajan Bandy, CJ Henderson, Joshua Jobe, and Tyler Harrell brought home a state championship with a time of 40.97 and the 4x400m team of Xzavier Henderson, CJ Henderson, Cameron Daniel, and Tyler Harrell brought home a state championship with a time of 3:15.26.

The 4x800m team of Alec Cuevas, Deshay Fernandez, Nicolas Aixala, and Xzavier Henderson finished second with a time of 8:05 and Tyler Harrell had top finished in the 100m (4th) and 200m (3rd). Distance runner Deshay Fernandes also had a stellar tournament, finishing second in the 800m and sixth in the 1600m.
