Explorers Trounce Westland Hialeah in Varsity Baseball

Senior shortstop Christian Rodriguez went 4-for-4 as the Explorers defeated Westland Hialeah 9-2 Thursday afternoon at home. 

Rodriguez, a Wake Forest signee, hit a home run, a double and had 4 RBI in the win.
 
Starting pitcher Chris Gonzalez got the win as the Explorers’, ranked No. 16 in the latest MaxPreps national poll. The lefty threw four innings, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out five on the afternoon. Gonzalez didn’t give up any walks but did allow one HBP. Relievers Anthony Arguelles and Christopher Mederos combined to throw the final three innings.
 
At the plate, the Explorers (19-1) had 11 hits, including two apiece from Matthew Alfonso, E.J. Doskow and Christopher Bohrer.
