Guzman Wins State Title

The Columbus Wrestling Team finished in 9th place out of 56 schools competing in the FHSAA Class 3A State Championship in Kissimmee this past weekend.

After a tough weekend of competition, the Explorers came away with a STATE CHAMP in Christian “Chip” Guzman in the 108 lb. weight class. The junior dominated his finals match, pinning his opponent in 2:50 (2nd period). Sophomore Derrick Hart finished in 4th place at heavyweight.

The rest of the Explorers competed courageously but came up short of reaching the medal stand. Join us in congratulating Gavin Buck (132 lbs.), Dylan Mira (145 lbs.), Guy Toussaint (170 lbs.), Josh Marquez (182 lbs.) and  Dan Van Arman (195 lbs.). All 5 are seniors and cap an incredible run wrestling for legendary head coach Jim Husk.
