13 Explorers Inducted Into Athletic Hall of Fame
Twelve athletes and a coach became the newest members of the Columbus Athletics Hall of Fame Saturday night, in an induction ceremony on campus.
The inductees include:
Roberto Suarez ('69) – Football
Billy Mendoza ('84) – Football
Craig Barry ('92) – Swimming
Oscar Cartaya ('95) – Baseball
Eddy Alvarez ('08) – Baseball / Speed Skating
Gary Bush ('09) – Track & Field Erik Lora ('09) – Football Jakhari Gore ('10) – Football Javi Salas ('10) – Baseball
Deon Bush ('12) – Football Bryan Garcia ('13) – Baseball Nick Wethy ('13) – Wrestling
Alex Mirabal ('88) – Football Coach
Head football coach Dave Dunn was awarded the 1st annual Dave Riley Excellence in Coaching Award. Coach Dunn led the Explorers to the program’s first state championship win last month over Apopka High School.
