Eighth Graders Shine at Scholastic Olympics

Each year, Christopher Columbus High School hosts its Scholastic Olympics, with the 2019 edition marking 41 years of Miami’s original and most popular scholastic competition for 8th graders. 

The competition, which started in 1979 with 42 students, today boasts participation of nearly 1,000 students from 20 schools. The competition covers subject matter including English, History, Mathematics, Religion, Science and the Arts. Awards are presented to the top 3 in each subject and the top 3 schools overall.
The Top 3 schools by division were:
Division I: Mother of Christ
Division II: St. Brendan Elementary School
Division III: St. Theresa

Christopher Columbus High School is a private, Roman Catholic, college-preparatory high school, conducted by the Marist Brothers of the Schools. We aim to make Jesus Christ known and loved, as we prepare young men for higher education and for their continuous challenge of harmonizing faith, culture and life. We foster a family spirit among all who are committed to the success of the school and promote opportunities to work together as a community of learners. 

Columbus is fully accredited by Cognia and is a member of the Marist Association of Secondary schools, the National Catholic Education Association and the Independent Schools of South Florida.
