Explorers Sign to Compete in College

Christopher Columbus High School held a signing ceremony Thursday for 10 of its top senior athletes, who each signed letters of intent to compete in college.

On the baseball diamond, Coach Joe Weber had four Explorers sign with the colleges of their choice. Nick Calero signed with College of Central Florida while Carlos Linares signed with the University of Maine, Alex Rodriguez signed with Marymount University and Carlos Valderama signed with St. Thomas University.
 
The Columbus Lacrosse program had one signee - Andy Bianco to Lynn University.
 
For the soccer team and Coach Mike Stewart, four Explorers signed to play at the next level. Christopher Valdes signed with Marywood University while teammates Carlos Varona (Marymount University), Eduardo Cardonne (Marymount University) and Diego Vega (St. Thomas University) all inked on the dotted line.
 
Senior Matthew Amor was the lone swimmer to sign for Columbus. He will swim at Barton College in the fall.
