Six Columbus Students Named 2026 National Merit Scholarship Finalists

Christopher Columbus High School proudly announces that six seniors have been named finalists in the 2026 National Merit® Scholarship Program: David De Paz, Patricio Del Castillo, Adrian E. Garcia, Zackary Gonzalez, Alex Hidalgo, and Esteban Torres.

These students are among approximately 15,000 high school seniors nationwide selected as finalists in this prestigious academic competition. As finalists, they now advance to compete for approximately 7,500 National Merit Scholarships to be awarded later this spring.

The National Merit Scholarship Program, established in 1955 and conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), recognizes students for exceptional academic achievement and potential. The program begins with more than 1.3 million students who enter by taking the PSAT/NMSQT®, which serves as the initial screening process.

Earning finalist standing places these Columbus students among the top academic performers in the nation, reflecting their dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence.

Christopher Columbus High School congratulates these young men on this outstanding achievement.
