Explorers Golf Captures Second Tournament Victory of the Season

The Columbus Explorers continued their strong start to the season by winning the Westminster Christian Invitational, earning their second tournament victory.

Competing from the back tees in extreme heat and wind, the Explorers were led by junior Jake Williams, who finished third individually with a 1-over-par 72. Seniors Hector Perez Sainz shot 75, Eduardo Perez Sainz recorded a 76, and Eduardo Marin finished with a 78.

The Varsity B team also delivered an impressive performance, placing 10th among 15 teams from Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. The lineup featured four freshmen and one senior.

Freshman Tomas Gonzalez ’30 led the group with a 77, the second-lowest score by a freshman in the entire field. Fellow freshmen Charlie Quinn ’30, Evan Shipley ’30, and Chris Caso ’30 also gained valuable experience while competing against some of South Florida’s top programs.
