Columbus Alumni Create Special Gift for Pope Leo XIV

Christopher Columbus High School is proud to share a special project that brings together faith, art, our Marist heritage and the Explorer Brotherhood.

Columbus alumnus Dr. Cesar Santalo recently presented fellow alumnus Thomas G. Abraham with Gathered Into One, an original collage portrait of Pope Leo XIV created by Santalo. Abraham will take the artwork with him to Rome, where he plans to personally present it to the Holy Father.

The portrait brings together images from Pope Leo XIV’s life in the United States, his mission in Peru and his ministry around the world. It also incorporates images connected to Christopher Columbus High School and St. Marcellin Champagnat, founder of the Marist Brothers.

Dr. Santalo is Dean of the College of Communication & Design at Lynn University and an internationally recognized Cuban American multidisciplinary artist. Abraham is Chairman of the Anthony R. Abraham Foundation, which has a longstanding commitment to philanthropy, education, healthcare and service to others.

A copy of Gathered Into One will also be displayed on the Columbus campus.
