  • FHSAA CORONAVIRUS Update - March 31, 2020

    GAINESVILLE, FL - Given the directive of President Trump to maintain following CDC guidelines through April 30, 2020, combined with Governor DeSantis and Commissioner Corcoran's mandate for schools in Florida to remain closed through May 3, 2020, the FHSAA will continue to follow suit with all scheduled FHSAA meetings, conferences, and athletic events postponed.

  • Columbus Athletics, FHSAA Response to COVID-19

    In light of the collective decisions of the FHSAA and the Greater Miami Athletic Conference due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19, the Columbus Athletics Department has determined that activity for all sports will be suspended indefinitely, starting Friday, March 13.

  • Track Team Wins Sam Burley Invitational

    This past Friday and Saturday, the Columbus track team competed at the Sam Burley Hall of Fame Invitational at Tropical Park.

  • CCNN Live, Reyes Receive Honors

    Senior, Kevin Reyes, has been named a finalist in the Education Awareness category for the 25th Annual Palm Beaches Student Showcase of Films (SSOF) – the largest student film competition and award show in Florida— for his public service announcement entitled, Disconnect to Reconnect. 

  • Senior Villar Named Scholar Athlete of the Year 

    Christopher Columbus High School is proud to announce that the Miami Touchdown Club Board of Directors have named senior football player Maximus Villar its their Scholar Athlete Scholar of the Year.

  • Beach Clean Up & Kids Fishing Clinic

    The Anglers Club and Spearfishing Club completed its first ever beach cleanup and kids fishing clinic.

  • Regional Wrestling Championship

    The Varsity Wrestling Team finished in 5th place out of 31 teams at the Region 4-3A Tournament this past weekend and in the process, qualified 5 Explorers to the State Championship.

    The Christopher Columbus High School Robotics Club won the SFL State Championship this past weekend.

    The Anglers Club traveled up to Dania to attend a special seminar presented by the International Game Fish Association (IGFA).

  • Class 8A All-State Football

    Fresh off their first Class 8A State Championship, a number of football players earned all-state honors and Henry Parrish Jr. was named the Class 8A Overall Player of the Year while Dave Dunn was named the Coach of the Year.

    The Anglers Club and Spearfishing Club recently participated in two special events.

  • Catch for Kids Project

    On Presidents’ Day, two members of the Anglers Club - Carlos Cornide and Nicholas Valdes – hosted their Senior Mas Family Program Project: Catch for Kids Fishing Clinic at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park.


    Eleven Explorers found plenty of success in their competition this past fall, and the Miami Herald recognized each with All County honors.

  • Debate Teams Travel to Harvard, Canada

    The Debate Society had a busy weekend and split the team between the Harvard and University of Toronto tournaments. 

  • Jupiter Varsity Wrestling Tournament

    The varsity wrestling team caped its regular season with a 2nd place finish out of 33 teams at the Jupiter High School Invitational this past weekend.

  • Explorers Win Geography Bee

    The Geography Club faced tough competition from public and charter schools but secured solid back-to-back wins over Jose Marti and iMater to win 1st place at the Miami-Dade County Spelling Bee.

  • Spearfishing Club Report

    This past Sunday, four members of the Spearfishing Club finally got the opportunity to proceed with the classroom session and confined water session of their freediving course which was headed by Columbus very own alumni Chris Tavera better known as the Miami Skin Diver.


    A special privilege for Columbus seniors is for them to wear a ‘Class of’ polo, and this year, administration has chosen a smoke grey Nike Dri-FIT Polo for the Class of 2020.

  • Debaters Make Finals, Medal Round at Fairchild Challenge

    The Columbus Debaters competed in the 17th Annual Fairchild Challenge Debates.

  • Robotics Competes in Night at the Museum Invitational

    The Columbus Robotics Club traveled to Washington DC to participate in an invitational competition dubbed ‘Night at the Museum’ hosted by NOVA Systemic.

  • Six Explorers Sign on NSD

    On Wednesday, February 5 during senior lunch, six Explorers signed their National Letters of Intent to go to college and play football at the next level.

  • Holmes Wins FHSAA Spirit of Sport Award

    The Florida High School Athletic Association announced Thursday the winners of the second annual Roger Dearing Heart of the Awards Award and Roger Dearing Spirit of Sport Award. Joshua Koolik (Pine Crest School) took home the Heart of the Arts honor, with Courtney Holmes (Christopher Columbus Boys Catholic High School) earning the Spirit of Sport accolade.

  • Basketball Defeats Miami Beach (2X)

    The varsity basketball team took on district opponent Miami Beach at their place Tuesday evening and won big 94-68.

  • Student Awareness Day

    Yesterday, five of our Explorers went up to FIU Biscayne Campus to participate in Student Awareness Day with Theology Department Chair, Mr. Pedro Marti. 

  • Wrestling Beats SR in Varsity, JV Dual

    The Varsity Wrestling team defeated the Southridge Spartans 56-16 to extend their win-loss record to 29-6.

  • 13 Explorers Inducted Into Athletic Hall of Fame

    Twelve athletes and a coach became the newest members of the Columbus Athletics Hall of Fame Saturday night, in an induction ceremony on campus.

    Christopher Columbus High School's Future Business Leaders of America Club competed in its district competition this past Friday.

    Fred Foyo '75 was recently named the 2018-19 Florida Athletic Coaches Association Boys Track & Field Coach of the Year.

  • Football Participates in Three Kings Day Parade

    Members of the 2019 State Championship team participated in the Three Kings Day Parade, also known as Los Tres Reyes Magos, on Sunday, January 12th. The team was part of the NFL float.

    The Varsity Wrestling won the Coral Springs Invitational Dual Meet Tournament this past weekend.

    Christopher Columbus High School has teamed up with the National Football League, the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee,Verizon and St. Thomas University for a Super Bowl community initiative that benefits local children in need.
