After Hurricane Dorian caused massive destruction in the Bahamas, Christopher Columbus High School has partnered with three on campus clubs/organizations to aid in relief efforts.
ANGLERS CLUBS & SEAHUNTER BOATS // NON-PERISHABLE GOODS
Members of the Anglers Club and SeaHunter Boats have both visited the Abaco Islands frequently and now the people of that area need our help! The Anglers Club is coordinating the collection of supplies: tarps, batteries, flash lights, toiletries of all types, generators, medicines, first aid kits, water, baby formula and Pedialyte.
SeaHunter Boats is working to coordinate the distribution of supplies and has secured three planes to take supplies over to the Abacos. The group also has access to a barge that will be taking a 40’ container over to Marsh Harbour in the Abacos.
To donate specifically to the Angler’s Club’s effort, bring items to the front of the school and there will be a truck parked collecting goods. You can also drop off in Coach Duke’s classroom. Last day to donate is Friday, September 13.
BE THE LIGHT CLUB // CLOTHING & SHOES
Members of the Be the Light Club will be collecting clothing and shoes to help our neighbors in the Bahamas. To donate specifically to the BTL Club’s effort, bring items to room D14 or Mrs. Marti’s office (M24). You can also drop off in the front of school. Last day to donate is Friday, September 13.
ARMS AROUND ABACO
Senior David Diaz is spearheading Arms Around Abaco to collect funds, water, canned foods, diapers, baby wipes and baby formula. The organization is in contact with the American Red Cross to coordinate delivery of the items collected.
The link to donate funds for Arms Around Abaco is still pending, but you can donate to the first two organizations through Friday, September 13. Once those two drives end, Arms Around Abaco will continue collecting non-perishables through the month of September.
