Greetings CCHS Parents and Guardians,
We would like to introduce ourselves and welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year. We are your son’s guidance counselors: Mrs. Debra Martinez (last names A-L) and Mr. Jason Hill (last names M-Z). We are excited to work together with you and your son to help you both navigate through his junior year.
As counselors we assist students in various ways. We meet with each student on an individual basis to discuss their college options, SAT and ACT tests plans, scholarship opportunities and career exploration. We monitor student progress on a daily basis and work alongside teachers, students and their parents to ensure academic success. Junior counselors also meet with students in small groups to assist them in familiarizing themselves with the college application process and timeline. Additionally, we welcome the opportunity to conduct a family meeting to create a customized plan of action. Meetings are scheduled during the school day between 7:30 am and 2:00 pm. Please contact us if you would like to schedule a family meeting with your son and his counselor.
Junior year is a year of ACTION: prepare/register for standardized tests, actively research possible universities, visit college campuses and create a plan of action. Junior year is also the last academic year used to calculate the GPA utilized for college applications. Therefore, your son’s academic progress throughout his junior year will play a vital role in his college journey.
Finally, we would like to invite you to the Junior Parent Night Presentation taking place Wednesday, September 18th at 6:30 pm in the CCHS Café. It will be an informational meeting covering college requirements, SAT/ACT (preparation, registration timeline and process), scholarships and college research tools.
We look forward to working alongside you and your son to assist him in any way possible.
