Student Support Services

Services & Resources

Based on the needs of our students, and conversations with parents, as the school year begins, the Guidance Department & Mas Family Program will be providing the following services:
  • Course Guidance & Schedule Changes: Many of our students will want to change classes in the first couple of weeks.  We will have discussions with students, parents, and teachers to make sure that the student is placed in the appropriate classes.
  • Social & Emotional Guidance: School counselors, teachers and outside counselors will provide services to our students in the areas of mindfulness and stress management, peers and friendships, setting and achieving goals, ways to keep occupied, and all other areas of social emotional learning.
  • Academic Assistance: Members of the guidance department will arrange for resources and tutoring for our students who require academic assistance; focusing on students that are in our college prep classes as well as those students who receive accommodations through ESE.

Christian Service Hours

The mission of Christopher Columbus High School is to prepare young men for higher education and for their continuous challenge of harmonizing faith, culture and life, including a mentality of service, which is manifested in various ways, not the least of which is our Christian Service Program.  Explorers are encouraged to pursue interests and passions, which uphold and reinforce the Marist mission and our school's Catholic identity.  The expectation is for Explorers to complete 25 hours of service each year to meet the 100-hour graduation requirement.
