Desmond Family Success Center

Helping Explorers Build the Habits for Success

Desmond Family Logo

Every Explorer learns differently. Some students need additional structure. Others need accountability, study strategies, or extra support as they adjust to the demands of high school.

The Desmond Family Success Center was created to meet those needs.

Guided by the Marist Brothers of the Schools, the center provides students with the academic support, resources, and encouragement needed to succeed while helping them develop the habits that will serve them long after graduation.

How Students Join the Center

Students are placed into a Desmond Family Success Center cohort through a comprehensive review process. Placement may be based on classroom observations, placement exam results, teacher recommendations, administrative recommendations, and identified academic support needs. This process helps us understand each student's strengths and challenges so we can provide the right support at the right time.

More Than Academic Support

The goal of the Desmond Family Success Center is not simply to help students earn better grades. It is to help them become organized, accountable, and confident young men who take ownership of their learning.

Students receive support through:

  • Structured study hall
  • Individual and small-group tutoring
  • Academic monitoring and check-ins
  • Study and organizational skill development
  • Collaboration between teachers, families, and support staff

These services help students establish routines, manage their workload, and develop the discipline necessary for long-term success.

Opportunities to Grow

Students in the center are encouraged to participate fully in the life of the school while taking advantage of opportunities designed to strengthen leadership, service, and character.

These opportunities include:

  • Leadership workshops
  • Guest speakers
  • Campus Ministry retreats and programs
  • Service-learning experiences
  • Clubs, athletics, and extracurricular activities

Through these experiences, students learn to lead, serve, and contribute to their communities.
