Volleyball Game Raised $6,500 for the Alzheimer’s Association
Team Members Presented Checks to the Association's Treasurer

The “Reason to Hope” Alzheimer’s Charity Event at Christopher Columbus High School was a volleyball game between Christopher Columbus High School and Belen Jesuit Preparatory School which was held in March to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Junior Danny Chomat, the co-organizer of the event with Senior Joseph Quintana, chose to help the Alzheimer’s Association because his grandfather died of the disease and he wanted to play a part in helping to find a cure.  The students of both schools were encouraged to spend some quality time with their grandparents by bringing them to the game.  Specially made purple (color of Alzheimer’s awareness) t-shirts were worn by the spectators.

In total, close to $6,500 was raised. Danny and Joseph presented the checks to the Board Vice Chair & Treasurer of the Southeast Florida Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, Enrique Pineiro, on Tuesday, May 17th.

The Southeast Florida Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association enhances efforts for researching a cure and provides support and educational services to over 200,000 Alzheimer's patients, families and caregivers in Broward, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade, Martin, Monroe, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties.
