
Columbus High School really excelled at the South Florida Regional Science and Engineering Fair this year. In fact, CCHS had more entries into the fair than any other South Florida school, 21 in total. Also, the CCHS students who competed received more Superior and Excellent Ratings than any other South Florida school; 6 receiving a "Superior" rating and 14 receiving and "Excellent" rating.
Four students were chosen to compete in the State Fair: Rafael Moas, Victor Moas, Rafael Ortiz, and Michael Rodriguez. 
Victor Moas was also selected to attend the International Science Fair. Of all the South Florida schools only 8 students were selected to compete in the senior division of the international science fiar and Victor was one of them. He also received an award for the" Best of the Fair Biological Sciences (Seniors) - Runner Up" and a special area award from the Dade Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society - The George N. Avery Award - 2nd Place. Rafael Moas also received a Special Area Award from the Dade Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society-George N. Avery Award 1st Place.
