Matthew Piscitelli Wins 1st Place...Miguel Figueiras Wins Honorable Mention
in Holocaust Visual Arts & Writing Contest

Christopher Columbus High School student Matthew Piscitelli was the FIRST PLACE WINNER in the category of high school writing for the Holocaust Documentation and Education Center’s 2008 Visual Arts and Writing Contest.  Miguel Figueiras, also a CCHS student, won an honorable mention in the same contest.  There were over 450 elementary, middle, and high school students from Miami, Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and several other Florida counties as well as from California, Nebraska, New Jersey, and Massachusetts who competed.  A group of distinguished individuals including Survivors, children of Survivors, interviewers, artists, and educators served as judges. 

The boys have been invited to attend the organization’s Annual Meeting on June 3rd where they will be presented with United States Bonds and their winning contest entries will be read.
