Brother Kevin Handibode, Columbus President, was bestowed the Papal Cross, the highest medal that can be awarded by the Papacy. It is currently given for distinguished service to the Church by lay people and clergy. This Pontifical honor is a recognition for Brother Kevin's outstanding witness to the Catholic faith and devotion to Catholic education.

The Archbishop of Miami, John C. Favalora, conferred the Papal Cross during a special Mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Mary on October 7, 2008.

Brother Kevin has served as a Marist Brother since 1957.
   
Brother Eladio Gonzalez is one of seven recipients of the National Catholic Educational Association’s annual Catholic Secondary Education Award for his life-long zeal of promoting human growth in the process of evangelization.

As a Marist Brother forover 50 years and having served in Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Texas and South Florida, he has exceptionally lived out Saint Marcellin Champagnat’s distinct pedagogical approach of educating the young, particularly the most neglected, with a sense of presence, simplicity and family spirit.
Ms. Mary McCullagh has been nominated for the College Board’s Outstanding AP Teacher of the Year Award, in recognition for her ongoing efforts in promoting programs, practices and initiatives that further the College Board’s mission of equity and access to college for the greatest number of students.

She was also praised by the College Board for reading and evaluating the 2009 Reading AP Exam. She was chosen along with 362 other high school teachers from across the country to score 190,929 exams.

In September, 2009, Ms. McCullagh was selected to attend a Smart Board Summit in Canada for North America's most dedicated and creative SMART Technologies users.
Coach Jim Husk was inducted into the Pennsylvania Wrestlng Hall of Fame.  His overall mark is a phenomenal 725-92-4.  Jim’s teams have won 20 conference, 22 district, 17 regional and 7 big class state team titles.  In addition, 7 of his teams have been state runners-up.  His teams have won 151 tournaments, a national record.  He also coached 61 individual state champions.  Jim was voted the Florida Coach of the Year on 11 occasions.  He served as the U.S.A. Dream Team Coach in 2003.  In 2006, he was voted as the NWCA National Coach of the Year.  In 2000 he was inducted into the Florida Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and in 2002 he was accorded the same honors in the FHSAA.
Mr. Keith Crossman is a recipient of the University of Chicago’s Outstanding Teacher Award in recognition by one of our recent graduates as an educator who has made a significant change in his education process, challenging and helping him
